My Story
Thomas C. Settles, III is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Bible Church and also serves as the FCA Campus Director for the University of Georgia. He was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and surrendered his life to Christ as a 15-year-old. At age 20, he committed to full-time Christian ministry during his undergraduate sophomore year at Morehouse College, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Upon graduating from Morehouse College in 2003, Thomas enrolled at Beeson Divinity School of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and received his Master of Divinity. After completing his studies at Beeson, Thomas moved to Athens, Georgia and he considers the Classic City to be home.
Thomas has a tremendous love for discipleship through the local church and is excited about equipping believers to go outside of the four walls of the church to do the work of the ministry. Thomas is a supervising member of the University Religious Life Association at UGA and serves on the Board of directors for The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and Downtown Ministries.
Thomas is married to Avita, his wife and “co-laborer for life” of over 10 years. They are the grateful parents of four gifts from God.
